Two wheels on my wagon

I've been riding my bike a lot lately. It's a great way of getting around the city. The fist few days were painful. Cycling muscles and running/hiking muscles seem to be distant cousins at least twice removed. I wish there were more bike friendly trails around here but alas most of the paths are just too steep and require plenty of scrambling.

Yep. Seem to use quite different muscle sets for cycling and walking/running. Cycling is just about my only option to keep fit here in NL (should get off my arse and do some aswell) but whilst it's good for the condition it won't get you hill fit. Remember in the dim and distant when I used to run spending one summer holiday cycling and getting into all manner of trouble when I started running again. Cramps and the works. Not good.

Dave - I spent years racing mountain bikes, road bikes and riding BMX. I agree, it does keep the ol' heart and lungs fit but it won't help with 'hill legs' at all.

Hej Joe, I haven't seen you hiking, running, backpacking, fishing and cycling in the mountains of Norway lately, is the rain still continuing?

Hendrik - without going into too much detail life has taken me on a bit of a roller-coaster this past month or so. I'm just taking some time to regroup, start afresh and hopefully soon things will return to normal. Thank you for your concern.
